Elia supports initiatives by employees and external partners, actively playing a role as a social stakeholder.
Almost every year enthusiastic employees organise a day of solidarity and fellowship with a view to raising money for cancer research in connection with the charitable initiative Télévie.
Friends, families and employees take part in various activities, such as climbing a high-voltage pylon (not connected to the grid!). Each climb is sponsored by Elia and helps raise money for Télévie. The event is supervised by Elia professionals and a group of volunteer paratroopers from the Mons region, who get together to raise money for charity.
This event, launched by Flemish Minister-President Kris Peeters, aims to raise awareness and money for people suffering from asthma and cystic fibrosis. In 2011, the Elia team comprised some 100 employees from Belgium and Germany, along with a few customers. They enthusiastically set out to conquer the Col du Galibier, a legendary part of the Tour de France.
Also in 2012, 2013 and 2014 Elia participated in this event with many enthusiastic cyclists.
Elia has been sponsoring Cap48 since 2009, with activities such as staff campaigns and involvement in fund-raising events.
